Engineering Letter - Foundation Repair

We finally received a copy of the engineer's letter to repair our foundation after the plumbing was arranged properly.

Transcribed directly from the letter:

Subject: Plumbing Penetration thru Foundation

As requested, *********** observed slab penetrations due to plumbing pipe relocation at above referenced address. Slab tendons were exposed but appear to be undamaged except for minor sheathing nicks.

Recommendations:

Tape sheathing nicks with duct or electrical tape. Back fill void to within 6" from top of slab. Install opposed #4 rebar at approximately 6" o.c.e.w. mid-depth of slab with 4" embedment and set with epoxy, then securely tie overlaps and intersections. Replace poly moisture barrier then apply a concrete binding agent to exposed concrete surfaces. Place 3,000-psi concrete into voids then trowel finish.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.

Here is a copy of the actual letter.

Top Out Plumbing - Day 2

I pretty much stayed out of the way yesterday and let the plumbers work. It was too dark in the evening for photos. This was the next day.

Wrong door color

It should be this darker color.

Birds and Baths

The tub and shower floor for the master bath arrived today. The two pieces were sitting in the master bedroom. As I walked up to inspect them, above me in the roof frame a bird became startled. He went nuts and started flying into windows and walls. I think he had a pretty bad headache after that. I left shortly after. I wonder if he made it out alive?

Here is the hole in the wall that the bird made.

Builder Update 5-15

The GC just called me. Here's what's going on.

The engineer visited the house this passed Wednesday to evaluate what needs to be done with the foundation, following the plumbing corrections made earlier this week.

He will submit his plans to the GC on Monday. We will receive documentation on the entire process.

Meanwhile, bath tubs have been ordered and are expected to arrive on Monday.

Additionally, the GC has ordered HVAC, top in plumbing and electrical work to begin next week.

Siding hasn't been confirmed but should take place somewhere in the next couple of weeks.

Roof, Weatherproofing, Shingles Coming Together

During my lunch visit to the house today it started raining. There was a crew on site unrolling rolls of black material (moisture barrier?) onto the roof and hauling in sheets of pre-cut metal {flashing?).

Afterward I saw the GC and talked to him about the repairs being done to the plumbing. He said the engineer was supposed to be out sometime today to assess what needs to be done. With the rain it may not be for a few days or even a week.

Meanwhile, the roof continues to take shape as my wife and I learned late this evening. We drove by and saw that they have already put shingles on the roof. It is finished already. It was too dark for photos. I will go by tomorrow and take some photos.

Plumbing Rerouting

I drove by today and there were people rerouting the plumbing that was done wrong. The first time I went out they were working on the master bath toilet plumbing. The second time they were already gone and I could see the laundry plumbing was corrected.

I did note that there is a PT cable next to one of the pipes and another that had damage to the sheathing.

Framing Day 8

We've had so much rain lately, I didn't see much point driving to the house today at lunch. After work, I decided to anyway.

I'm not sure what work was done today. However, I don't recall the barrel ceiling in the entry. Either way, the large stack of wood that was in the front yard yesterday is almost completely gone now.

I went inside and took pictures of every single wall to document stud locations.
